Privacy

Last updated October 19, 2026. Browsing the directory collects nothing about you beyond the technical logs every web server keeps. The only place you give us personal information is the inquiry form, so most of this page is about that.

Who we are

Inquiries

When you send an inquiry we record your name, email address, phone number if you give it, the date you need help if you give it, your message, the page you sent it from, and your IP address, shortened before it is stored (the last block of an IPv4 address set to zero, only the first half of an IPv6 address kept). The shortened IP helps us catch automated spam.

The inquiry is stored in the site’s database and emailed to us, and you get a copy. If we have an email address for the business you contacted, it goes to that business too, so it can reply to you. From then on the business handles your details under its own privacy practices.

We use your inquiry only to answer it and to keep spam out. We keep inquiries for 24 months, or delete them sooner if you ask.

We don’t sell or share your information

We don’t sell personal information, we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don’t use it to build profiles.

Server logs

Our host records IP addresses, pages requested and browser type in its access logs, to keep the site running and secure. The host keeps those logs for a short period and we don’t use them to identify anyone.

Cookies and measurement

The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If we add audience measurement (Google Analytics) later, it will only load after you agree to it, and this page will be updated first.

Business listings

Listings contain business details the businesses have made public themselves. Where a business seems to work from a private home, as walkers and sitters often do, we show only the city and ZIP code. A business owner can ask for any detail to be corrected or removed.

Your rights, including California residents

Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask for a copy. California residents have these rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, along with the right to opt out of sale or sharing (which we don’t do) and the right not to be treated differently for using any of them. Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and other states with consumer privacy laws have similar rights.

Write to the address above. We’ll confirm the request within 10 days and answer within 45 days. An authorized agent can make a request for you with your signed permission.

Children

The site isn’t aimed at children under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
